Collectively the use of joint contracts has already realised savings in the region of £2.25 million per annum across the participating Boroughs.

Current joint contracts which have yielded substantial savings include the following:

Heating Oil and Diesel
Cleaning Materials
Utilities

It should be borne in mind, however, that the areas so far studied represent only a small portion of the commodities suitable for study and that with sustained support and the participation of all member local authorities, the LCSG can continue to demonstrate the benefits of joint action which are designed to use existing staff, building expertise in member authorities to the mutual benefit of all.

The LCSG has for a number of years offered affordable, low cost training to staff involved in procurement. The courses have proved very successful.
